FITZAIR AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
After 10 years as a Cameraman with the Australia Broadcasting Commission, Chris decided it was time to follow his other passion Flying. At Bankstown airport Chris learnt to fly various Fixed wing aircraft, both single and twin engines where he obtaining his IMC and night ratings, flying mail runs to central Australia and twin engined Cesena 411’s to Lord Howe Island.
Chris always had a love for Helicopters so in 1984 started flying Rotor wing out of Sydney and the following year purchased his first helicopter, a Hughes 500C to form Fitzair Aerial Photography.
Always wanting to combine his two loves, flying and filming he started R&D on developing camera mounts trying to use whatever technology that was available at the time to create a downlink so as to provide the director a picture on the ground.
When Chris wasn’t flying himself, he flew with other pilots using his vast experience filming with the older Continental and Tyler camera mounts hanging out of the side of the Helicopters 50ft off the ground, where everything in those days was manual.
Filming documentaries in Australia like “A town called Alice’ out on the Simpsons desert to flying out of Van Nuys Airport California Chris has a firm understanding about flying all over the world.
Chris brings to the table 31 years of flying and filming .
